Hi guys. I know a lot of you like to hear about the behind the scenes up and downs so ill fill ya all in on this weeks shot. If thats not what your here for then just scroll down for some very messy pictures.
So it should come as no surprise to long-term readers of this blog that most of the drama came from casting. So let’s startto the beginning.
This, as all my videos are, was a custom. I actually had 2 customs that I hoped to shoot at the same time. The other one was the bear video we realeased last week and we had a real problem finding a bear. Took 3 months but once we had that set we cast the other actor and thats the cast we shot with. Went very smoothly. Ok back to the other video. I cast the 2 guys but i just couldn’t get all 4 actors from both scenes in the same place at the same time. I couldn’t afford to pay for the location twice so I talked to Jade, the woman who owns the yard we shoot in, and she was kind enough to let me pay once and split the shoots up. We shot the one video and it went great then 2 days before we were to shoot the other one one of my models said he had to rush out of town because his grandmother died. Now im sure thats what happened and i never would want to doubt the guy but it is odd that thats the 3rd actor ive cast who has had to go out of town for a death in the family. So once again I put the shoot off and put the ad out . I got some really good submits and i cast this really hot model. I explained what the video was and how i sell it and hesaid sure as long as there wasnt nudity. Nope no nudity. So we were set. i cast him on Friday and we shoot on Wednesday. So when he said yes i sent him the info and asked him to confirm. No reply. So i sent him an email again on saturday night and he asked me a question. i answered and asked if he’s confirmed. Nothing. So sunday night i emailed him again and again no confirmation just another question. By now i was worried so I cast a back up. Told him i may need to replace an actor and asked if he would be interested. He said yes so i figured id be fine. On monday the first one confirmed and said he was in for sure. He even finally sent me his number so we could text the details. I asked him to memorize the script and he said he would. Meanwhile the stand by guy emails me and he was worried about the bonks on the head by the frying pan. He asked if we would have medical personel on the set. Ok i explained how we did it but knew he wouldn’t be in it. i mean come on did he really think we would hit him on the head with a frying pan? So i got a stand by for the stand by on Tuesday. For a Wednesday shoot! I asked him to come to the set as a back up and if the other guy didn’t show, i still had my doubts, i would cast him. If he does show i would do a short solo with him. I was going to ask him to do it free, hes a new actor and needs to get footage of himself , and he was fine with that. Then my customs customer said he would throw in extra money and wrote a solo scene.
Meanwhile the first guy i cast weeks ago was great. very patient with the changes and very eager to do the video. I figured im set. At least 2 of the 3 guys would show right? Nope. 11 the night before i get a text from the first guy who strung me along. He finally read the script and wasnt comfortable with the content. What? What the hell is he talking about? Its a slapstick comedy with out a hint of sexual stuff. Guys getting pied and bonked on the head while hearing bird sounds. What the hell is there to be uncomfortable with? Ok well thats fine i have the stand by guy except he hasnt answered any of my emails that night telling him we have a scene for him either way and that he would be paid. Now i was worried.
So i woke up the next day and still no emails from mr standby.I called him and someone answered and hung up immediately. Not a good sign. So i emailed the custom guy and he said just do a solo with the main guy if the other one doesnt show. Ok well at least we had something to shoot. I show up to the location and the first model was there already. Early and professional and ready to go! I quickly checked my email and there was Mr Standby. he got in a caaccident the night before and he cant make it. Now i dont want to be cynical but this is the 4th guy who got in an accident the day before a shoot. Wow these videos must be so unlucky!
So we set up and the model was so great! He memorized the new script and was a good sport. 14 pies, 4 buckets of water, a bucket of gunge and many bonks on the head later i had a video!!
So thats the making of story:) Now on to the pictures. Im going to try my best to have this up tomorrow night.
